Felicity and Tom’s wedding is a beautiful example of how couples can personalise their celebration. They wanted their day to feel truly personal, so they opted for an unconventional wedding celebration.
Ready for some serious wedding inspiration?

The Ceremony
The couple decided to get married at Stockport Town Hall, a beautiful Grade II listed building known for its stunning Renaissance architecture and picturesque clock tower. This venue, affectionately called “The Wedding Cake,” offered an intimate setting for their civil ceremony, which was followed by a small, exclusive reception on the terrace at The Ivy in Manchester.
This initial gathering was limited to immediate family, bridesmaids, and groomsmen, providing a relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere.
The Celebration
The real party began when they welcomed 110 of their closest friends and family to their garden, where Inspired Structures had set up three beautiful Chinese Hat Marquees.
These structures not only provided a unique and elegant backdrop for their celebration but also offered the perfect blend of style and functionality right in their back garden.

The Inspiration Behind Felicity and Tom's Choice
Initially, Felicity was drawn to the idea of a marquee or teepee wedding, but many venues they visited were beyond their budget. However, after attending their best friend’s parents 50th wedding anniversary, where they had a marquee in their garden, they realised how much fun it could be and they decided to explore this option further, which is when they got in touch with us!
The traditional marquees they had seen didn’t really quite fit their vision, so when Grant visited their home and suggested using three Chinese Hat Marquees, they knew it was the perfect choice. The marquees were strategically positioned to maximize the garden space, creating a seamless flow between different areas of the party.
“The lighting was stunning, and the dance floor was a huge hit—our guests certainly made the most of it!”

Personal Touches
To make their celebration even more special, Felicity’s mum and her friend took charge of decorating the tables. They did an incredible job, and the tables looked absolutely gorgeous. For food, they opted for a delicious pizza service from Jordy’s in Nantwich, which was a huge success with the guests and lots of delicious home made cakes.
Their unconventional wedding day was everything they hoped for and more. By choosing non-traditional venues and incorporating personal touches they really created a celebration that truly reflected who they are.
The Chinese Hat Marquees were a fantastic choice, offering a unique and memorable setting for all their friends and family to enjoy.

How Chinese Hat Marquees Fit into Smaller Gardens
Space Optimisation
The compact size of the Chinese Hat Marquees allows them to be placed in a way that makes the most of many garden’s layouts. They can be arranged to create separate areas for different activities, such as dining, dancing, and socialising, without overwhelming the space.
Visual Impact
The distinctive pointed roofs of these marquees add a striking visual element to many gardens, creating a memorable and picturesque setting. When linked together, they formed a stunning focal point that enhanced the overall aesthetic of the celebration.
Personal Touches
The marquees can be decorated with personalised touches, such as beautiful lighting and custom furnishings, which further integrated them into the garden setting.
Flexibility
These marquees are easily adaptable to many gardens’ terrain, whether it’s grass or hard surfaces. This flexibility allows people to utilise every part of their garden effectively.
